On March 23, 2010, SINOPEC formalized a strategic cooperative partnership with the Chinese aerospace Industry. SINOPEC Lubricant has won the special honor for “Outstanding Contribution to the China Space Foundation” for providing predominant lubricant technology to the Chinese Space Industry for more than 50 years.

Since the late 1950s, SINOPEC Lubricant has set foot on exploring and developing Chinese Space lubricants, and independently developed four major categories of more than 50 space lubricant products to solve; great temperature difference, ultra-high vacuum, super-radiation and many other lubrication problems in a complex space environment. SINOPEC lubricant has become an internationally unique and well-known with space lubrication advantages, and provided reliable lubrication protection for China to rise from the Hydrogen Bomb, Atomic Bomb and Man-made Satellite to the March Series of Carrier Rockets, from the Manned Space Flight to the Lunar Exploration as well as many other space projects.

Recently, for the progress of technological development of two major space projects; the Manned Space Flight and Lunar Exploration, SINOPEC Lubricant has been actively promoting the series of basic research work, and committing itself to perfect the reservation of lubrication technology, in order to meet the needs of the future Chinese Space Project. At the Space Lubrication Technology Seminar led by SINOPEC, space experts took the pulse for lubrication of new problems and new requirements that may occur in the future space flight, and further clarified the future direction for R & D key problem tackling of lubrication technology of Chinese Space. In the 5-year Scientific Research Plan published by SINOPEC Lubricant, it clearly states that in five years, three kinds of new lubricating materials will be developed, two joint laboratories established, and a set of evaluation equipment for space lubricants built. At the awards ceremony for Outstanding Contributions to China Space Foundation, Wang Yongzhi, faculty member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the International Academy of Astronautic Science, foreign faculty member of the Russian Academy of Astronautic Science, exploit scientist of Manned Space Flight, first chief designer of Chinese Manned Space Flight Project and winner of the State Supreme Science and Technology Award, commented that SINOPEC Lubricant well deserves the "Outstanding Contributions to China Space Foundation" award.
