The Department of Transportation and the Department of Safety Supervision under China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company (COSCO) jointly issued a notice in mid June, informing relevant companies under COSCO of expanding the application scope of Sinopec marine lubricants.

COSCO has tried Sinopec marine lubricants on five ocean-going ships of its subordinate companies including Dalian Ocean Shipping Company since 2008. After the joint effort of COSCO and relevant personnel from Sinopec Lubricants over the past two years, the trial use has got initial results and a pattern suitable for the application of Sinopec marine lubricants to ocean ships was figured out. To steadily advance the application of Sinopec marine lubricants by COSCO and ensure the safe use by fleets, COSCO decided to arrange two more subordinate companies to try Sinopec marine lubricants on their ships.

The "Dongting Lake" oil tanker owned by COSCO’s Dalian Ocean Shipping Company has a displacement of 76,628t, with Singapore, Qingdao and Guangzhou ports as its main replenishment ports. The "Dongting Lake" oil tanker originally adopted a famous brand foreign lubricant, and began to adopt Sinopec marine lubricant for all of the equipment step by step since May 2009: Sinopec 5070 cylinder oil and 4008 system oil for the main engine (DALIAN-B&W, 6L60-MC, 8826KW/105r/min), and Sinopec 4030 medium speed engine oil for the auxiliaries (DAIHATSU, 6PSHTD-26H, 772KW/720r/min). During the trial use period, Sinopec Lubricants offered the ship excellent service and ensured multiple safe replenishments in Singapore. According to the feedback of the ship owner, all equipment onboard has performed well so far and no unfavorable conditions occurred.
