In order to reduce excess alkali number in cylinder oil caused by declined fuel consumption as well as abrasive wear during navigation at reduced speed, Sinopec Lubricant Company developed 5055 cylinder lubricant for ships sailing at reduced speed or consuming fuel with around 2.0% of sulphur content. The lubricant is applicable for ocean-going ships along shipping routes involving sulphur emission control areas, and can meet the lubricating demand of ships with both high and low sulphur fuel oils, thereby simplifying varieties of cylinder lubricants. Having passed pilot tests, the product has been launched into the market.
